My Mom has a 14k LeCoultre par excellance watch with a coordinating 14k bracelet which I would describe as being the alternating shapes of diamonds and baseball shapes. The watch has been in the original box (with papers)probably since purchase and needs to be serviced. The closest LeCoultre dealer advised they would send it to the Geneva factory, at an estimated cost of $400. I would like to get the watch fixed up for Mom, but don't want to spend more than the watch is worth doing such. Could anyone provide a current market value based upon the gold or resell value. Also, would appreciate any suggestions for a qualified service company in the states that might be more reasonable. D |

First of all, you're likely to end up with a bill in excess of $1000 from JLC. If it were $400, I'd be sending all my stuff there. I sent a watch that once got a 2000 Euro quote! The watch is probably worth about $600-700...due mostly to the gold. Is the watch ticking at all? If so, my shop can generally service such things for < $250. |
