Now I checked the numbers on the movement. It's marked with 1232571 and P478/o.

The movement looks like new but it loses about 90 seconds in 24 hours. Is that normal or a sign that it need service? I don't have any service history on the watch.

Also - I think I want to refinish the dial - which companies can you recommend and what price can I expect?

From what I seen the prices in Germany (and Europe in general) are quite high. It would probably be much cheaper to send it to the US. Since I have to send it away I don't care how far it is.

Is it possible to date the movement from the numbers on it (1232571 and P478/o)?

US rediallers are horrible. That is why they are cheap. You might as well paint it yourself. There is one in Canada called dialcraft you should be able to google them but they often take 3-5 months.

Your watch dates to aopprox 1957, the movement would be a P478/C not "O".

I agree. They'd do a near factory job. The Canadians aren't bad, they just take a really long time.
