Hi all, need your advice - am a novice in watch collection.
I saw a mint condition of a LeCoultre in a watch shop this morning. The old man told me it's a 1950s JL 14K gold watch. The movement has a code K830 C/W but i've done a google and couldn't find this movement except this ad

http://www.chrono24.com/en/en/jaegerlecoultre/classic-vintage-1965--time-only--1 00-original--guarantee--id1628913.htm

The watch in the shop looks very much the same like this one, except that the one I saw carries the full "Jaequer LeCoultre" name on the watch instead of just LeCoultre.

The old man told me the VXN means the movement was Vacheron Constantin, but I guess am quite clear now this is not true after searching for 30 mins on google.

Got a few more questions - is it possible that a vxn code movement has a full Jaequer LeCoultre name on the watch surface? Seems not logical because if the vxn is mainly for the US market then the watch should carry only the LeCoultre brand. Am I right?

About the K830 C/W movement, any expert has any knowledge about it?

Is it true that if the watch surface is showing the full name, it must be a Swiss made one?

The price for this watch is about US$1.8K. With it's Mint condition, do you think it's not a genuine JL watch?

Thank you in advance for your help.

The price of $1800 seems very expensive to me. You can get a steel alarm for that.

The VXN on the bruidge is generally reserved for USA export, so I'd take a careful look at the dial and movement to see that it matches the case, but either way, $1800 is a lot. If you're going to spend that kind of money, get a larger 36mm watch with tear drop lugs and a 4xx series movement.

Thanks Zaf! I've gotta do more research before making a decision.
