JLC Futurematic power reserve stopwork

Hi all!
I have always read the Futurematic repair manuals / service guide to say that the watch will run down until the power reserve hits the 12 o'clock mark, at which point it will stop but there is still tension left in the mainspring due to the prewind we put in the barrel/arbor. Recently I've had someone say they are supposed to stop at the 3 o'clock, or beginning of the "red zone" on most dials. I'm curious if you guys have an opinion or source on what they are actually supposed to do? I have never seen any mechanism or information on anything that would actually stop the power reserve at the 3 o'clock mark, nor any way to adjust it if it is supposed to stop there.
Best,
Josh
