How do I find out what my gold pocket watch is worth?

Answering questions regarding what you should expect to get for your vintage watch at auction or from a dealer. You may also ask if questions regarding the authenticity of your watch here.

In order to provide a reasonable appraisal, we will need at least 3 of the following:

1) A picture of your watch. This is done using the "upload" feature.
2) Model number if known.
3) The case material, Silver, Steel or Gold, etc.
4) Case diameter & overall condition.

Due to the demands placed on my mailbox, I do not answer such inquires by direct mail. You must post your question here. Direct eMails regarding appraisals will be deleted and not answered.

Please note: Almost ALL the small ladies "cocktail" watches of brands such as Bulova, Gruen, Hamilton, etc., with gold trading at record prices are trading at or near scrap.

How do I find out what my gold pocket watch is worth?

Post by dmcnulty » Tue Jun 14, 2022 6:08 pm

My Dad has a beautiful gold pocket watch that belonged to his grandfather. It is a 14K Gold Pocket Watch made by C.H Meylan Brassus. There are numbers printed inside the case and looks like something else is etched in, but I can't read it. I am trying to help my dad to determine the value. Can you please guide me? I am trying to attach some pictures, but have not been successful. It says the file size it too large. Can you clue me in on how to send pics? Thanks, Debbie

You will have to shrink the size of your photos with an image editor or post a link to them.
