Founded in 1914 in Longeau, near Bienne by Ariste Racine, working out of his house initially, moving to a factory around 1918 it became known as ENICAR (Racine spelled backwards) in 1932.

Notable models include the Sherpa Dive, Sherpa Guide, Sherpa Super-Jet, Sherpa Jet, Sherpa OPS, Sherpa-Graph, Sherpa Super-Divette, which Sherpa being a reference to watches taken on a 1956 Swiss expedition that summited mount Everest.

ENICAR closed its doors in 1988 and anything found bearing that name after that date is not related to the original company and not considered collectible.
